Our Story

Built from Experience. Driven by Community.

Embershield Home Hardening started with a simple idea: our community deserves real protection from wildfire. Living in El Dorado County, we’ve seen firsthand how fast things can change when a fire starts, and how important it is to have a home that’s built—or upgraded—to stand a fighting chance.

We’re proud to be the first Fire Mitigation and Home Hardening General Contractor in the county, and the first Certified Home Hardening Inspectors here in Gold Country. Everything we install is Class “A” fire‑rated, and we only work with products we trust enough to put on our own homes.


Who We Are

We’re David Young and Dale Bourassa, two local guys who grew up in these mountains and care deeply about the people who live here. Integrity matters to us. Honesty matters to us. Being a good neighbor matters, and protecting our neighbors matters most of all!

We founded Embershield in 2025, right here in historic Placerville. From day one, our focus has been on finding the most effective, innovative fire‑resistant products available, building personal relationships with those products—and bringing them to homeowners who need real solutions, not sales pitches.


Why We Do This Work

The Caldor Fire changed our lives. It changed the lives of people we know, people we love, and people we’ve worked alongside for years. Being personally affected by that fire pushed us to dig deeper, learn more, and understand exactly what could be done to prevent that kind of loss.

After more than two years of research into home‑hardening and ember intrusion, we built Embershield Home Hardening LLC with one goal: to give our community better options and stronger protection.
